Carbon Gardening Products

The CarbonGardening^® products are designed to meet both the horticultural requirements essential for good gardening and the increasingly important environmental objectives of reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and storage of organic carbon in the soil. The key to this range of products is their capacity to bring significant environmental benefits into our garden in comparison to alternative products. They do this by;

• avoiding emissions from landfilling organic materials
• having carbon stored or sequestered within as a greenhouse friendly organic (Humic) carbon rather than as fresh and volatile carbon
• supplying organic nutrients that reduce the need for inorganic fertiliser use in the garden, thereby avoiding the carbon footprint of the inorganic fertilisers.

It will shock many gardeners to think that there are negative environmental aspects to gardening. In reality however, many products and materials used in gardening can carry a significant environmental or global warming  footprint associated with their production, transportation or in their actual use. Man-made fertilisers for example carry a very significant carbon footprint due to their manufacturing and distribution.

Garden Mixes

 Re-Carb^® Ultra

This nutrient rich, organic mix is used in general garden & landscaping applications. Suitable for most plants except phosphorus sensitive Australian natives.

Re-Carb^® Nature

Designed specifically for Australian natives, this mix drains freely and supplies appropriate levels of organic nutrients suitable for most natives. For fast growing species requiring high levels of nutrients we advise adding additional fertiliser at the time of planting.

Re-Carb^® Podium

Designed for on-slab planter boxes & containers, this mix is a highly organic, very free draining mix. When used on rooftops or exposed areas, we advise mulching with Re Carb® Advanced to reduce moisture loss.

Lawn Care Products

Re-Carb^® Foundation

Used as an underlay prior to laying new lawns, Re-Carb® Foundation is a blend of nutrient rich fine humus, blended with free draining minerals to provide the perfect medium for deep root growth and long term lawn care.

 Re-Carb^® Sustain

As a highly organic, fine top-dressing material, Re-Carb® Sustain replenishes lost soil humus & beneficial soil microbes, building lawn vigour. Rich in organic nutrients, we advise not applying any additional fertiliser within 3 months.

Potting Mix

Re-Carb^® Patio

Perfect for repotting tired and pot bound plants, Re-Carb® Patio suits most potted plants. Providing low levels or organic nutrients, this product provides a nutritional balanced growing medium. For long term nutrition we advise applying additional fertiliser within 3 months of potting.

Composts and Soil Conditioners

 Re-Carb^® Essence

This humus rich, 100% organic compost is specifically designed to build soil carbon levels and soil microbial activity. Apply 75mm and dig into tired, nutrient poor soils. Suitable for all plants, this compost is particularly beneficial for phosphorus sensitive Australian natives.

 Re-Carb^® Complete

This highly nutrient rich compost supplies plant available nutrients at the time of application, plus slow release organic nutrients available over time. Particularly suited to plants requiring nutrient rich soils, this product should be applied to a depth of 75mm, then incorporated to a depth of 150mm in the soil. Where phosphorus sensitive species are planted, we recommend Re-Carb® Essence.

Mulches

Re-Carb® Finish

This 100% recycled decorative mulch is graded to 15mm & suits all garden mulch applications. We recommend incorporating either Re-Carb® Essence or Re-Carb® Complete into the soil prior to planting or mulching.

Re-Carb® Advanced

This 2-in-1 product is a blend of nutrient rich compost and fine organic mulch. Re-Carb® Advanced is designed to improve soil health as the fine compost washes into the soil, plus reduce moisture loss and suppress weeds via mulching.
